The Labrador had fallen into a deep pit filled with dirty wastewater and scattered trash.
The concrete walls were steep and slick. Each time he tried to climb up, his paws slipped, and he tumbled back into the foul water below. The smell was heavy. The space was narrow. There was no easy way out.
He was tired.
And running out of strength.
Then, a passing car slowed down.
A man traveling with his family noticed something unusual — a pair of desperate eyes looking up from below.
He stopped immediately.
A Risky Descent
The man quickly searched for a thick rope. Securing one end to a fence post above, he carefully climbed down the slippery slope.
It wasn’t easy.
The walls were unstable. The surface was wet. The Labrador was heavy and frightened.
But the man didn’t turn back.
With effort and persistence, he wrapped the rope securely and began pulling. Inch by inch, with visible strain, he lifted the dog upward.
Finally, the Labrador reached solid ground.
Safe.
Exhausted, the dog immediately began nibbling grass nearby — perhaps instinctively trying to settle his stomach after swallowing some of the dirty water.
The moment he reaches the top marks the beginning of an entirely new chapter.

A New Name, A New Beginning
The rescuer made a life-changing decision.
He brought the Labrador home.
He named him Potato.
The first days were quiet and cautious. Potato stayed in corners, watching everything. Loud sounds startled him. During sleep, he sometimes trembled — as if reliving the fall.
The accident had left more than physical exhaustion.
It had left fear.
The new owner responded with patience, not pressure. Soft words. Gentle offerings of steamed buns. Space when needed.
Slowly, trust returned.
Soon, Potato formed an unexpected friendship — the family cat became his quiet companion.
A Big Appetite and Even Bigger Personality
Once comfortable, Potato’s true personality emerged.
He loved food.
Especially cantaloupe and meat buns.
He would sneak into the kitchen when no one was looking. He tried stealing duck meat from the refrigerator. He occasionally sampled the cat’s food without permission.
When caught, his reaction was almost theatrical.
Head lowered.
Ears drooping.
Eyes avoiding contact.
He looked like a child who knew he had been caught.
And somehow, it was impossible to stay angry for long.

Running Free at Last
The man later took Potato back to the countryside.
Open grasslands replaced concrete pits.
Streams replaced stagnant water.
Potato ran freely across fields, swam in cool streams, and experienced snow for the first time — bounding through it with visible excitement.
At one point, his fur was shaved for hygiene. He looked slightly comical, but he seemed lighter and more comfortable.
After just one month, Potato had gained over 2.5 kilograms.
His body was stronger.
His eyes were brighter.
His movements were confident.
More Than a Rescue
The video ends with Potato resting contentedly beside his rescuer.
It is not just a story of pulling a dog from a pit.
It is about stopping when others might drive past.
About climbing down when it would be easier to stay safe above.
About turning a moment of danger into a lifetime of belonging.
Potato once slipped again and again into darkness.
Now, he runs forward — secure, loved, and free.
