From Barely Breathing to Playing Again — Roman’s Incredible Rescue

Some rescues begin with a quiet discovery.

Others begin with urgency.

Roman’s story began somewhere in between — in a lonely stretch of wilderness where survival had already become uncertain.

When rescuers first saw the small dog, he was lying motionless, his body weak and trembling from the cold. He had been abandoned far from safety and had suffered severe injuries during a wild animal encounter.

A landfill worker happened to notice him and quickly called for help.

Without that moment of attention, Roman might never have been found.

A Race Against Time

When the rescue team arrived, Roman’s condition was critical.

He had lost a significant amount of strength and his body temperature had dropped dangerously low. Hypothermia was becoming a serious concern.

They wrapped him in dry cloths and gently warmed his small body inside the vehicle. His breathing was faint, and for several minutes he remained almost completely still.

Those moments felt endless.

To help restore his body temperature, the team carefully positioned him near a heater. Slowly, gradually, warmth returned to his fragile body.

Then something remarkable happened.

Roman opened his eyes.

For the first time since being found, he looked at the people around him.

Hope had returned.

The First Medical Tests

The following day, Roman was taken for X-rays and further examination.

Veterinarians discovered that he was suffering from extremely low blood sugar — a dangerous condition for an already weakened animal. To stabilize him, Roman was placed inside a specialized care unit where his temperature, hydration, and nutrition could be closely monitored.

For the next 48 hours, every moment mattered.

Thankfully, the X-rays showed no head injury. With careful treatment, Roman’s body began responding.

Gradually, the danger began to pass.

Small Signs of Recovery

After two days of intensive care, Roman was moved to a slightly larger recovery room where he could rest comfortably while still receiving medical attention.

He remained weak, but there were encouraging changes.

His breathing became stronger.
His appetite slowly returned.
His body responded well to medication.

Soon, Roman began showing small bursts of playful energy — gentle interactions with the people caring for him.

For a dog who had recently been fighting simply to survive, these moments meant everything.

Another Life Saved Along the Way

While driving back after rescuing Roman, the team made another unexpected discovery.

They found another injured dog nearby — later named Rob.

Like Roman, Rob had been exposed to the freezing conditions and had visible injuries. Fortunately, his condition was slightly more stable, and with treatment he recovered quickly.

But the story did not end there.

Later that night, rescuers returned to the area to search for other animals that might still be in danger.

Six Tiny Survivors in the Cold

What they found next was astonishing.

Hidden nearby were six small puppies, trying to survive without shelter or food. The weather was freezing, and the area was unsafe.

At first, the puppies ran away when people approached.

But with patience, gentle voices, and food placed carefully nearby, the rescuers slowly gained their trust.

One by one, the puppies were safely brought in.

One of them was especially weak and needed to be held close for warmth while being transported to safety.

That night, several lives were saved.

A Promise to Keep Helping

Today, Roman is no longer the fragile dog who could barely open his eyes. He is gaining strength, learning to trust again, and discovering the comfort of human care.

Rob has recovered well.

The rescued puppies are receiving treatment and warmth.

But the rescuers know their work is far from finished.

There are still many animals living in harsh conditions, waiting for someone to notice them.

Even when resources are limited and the challenges are great, the team continues to return with food, medical care, and hope.

Because every life matters.

And sometimes, all it takes to change a story is one person choosing to help when it matters most.
